Here we have a few examples of some really bad workmanship. Unfortunately a lot of the other  examples don't show very well on a photograph.

Sanding across the Grain

Sanding marks running across the grain are another of the very commonly found problems. Click on the picture to see this same spot after we were finished with it.

Notice the hole left by a drum sander.

A novice behind a drum floor sander can cost you dearly. This has to be the most serious Problem. Drum marks are really hard to remove, and also leave your floors far thinner than they needed to be.

Varnish applied over a dusty floor

These floors had been stained. Doesn't look like anyone bothered to clean the floors before applying the varnish.
